For immediate release: April 12, 2023
18 year old Toronto-Beaches pianist and composition prodigy Jonathan Kravtchenko will be premiering new chamber music and piano solo compositions at Calvin Presbyterian Church in midtown Toronto on May 20 at a concert that is also being produced by the young musician and entrepreneur. Jonathan’s compositions have gained a loyal following at this acoustically rich midtown performance venue, which is also used by the TSO. His music is known for its harmonies and expressiveness. All of his previous concerts were performed to sold out halls!
Composition aside, Jonathan also seems to have learned early in life that if you want to be an artist, you also have to be an entrepreneur. Coming up to the one-year anniversary of his first concert, these intimate performances are the brain child of the teenage composer, in collaboration with his startup production company InterMusic Group. Each of the concerts has included premiers of Jonathan’s work and favorite pieces from the romantic and classical period.
From handling bookings, to ticket sales and marketing, the young entrepreneur is without a doubt very driven. Putting up posters, sending out fliers and promoting a concert can be more than a full-time job, however Jonathan’s huge efforts are paying off and he has an ever growing audience that looks forward to hearing his new compositions.
The May 20 concert is titled “Dreamland…” It features Jonathan on piano and other talented young Toronto musicians: Nadine Bargout, violin, Caara Yeung, flute and Barbie Fong, piano.
The programme features excerpts from Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” we well as works by Bach and Bartok which will be performed alongside Jonathan’s new works.
Bringing form to Jonathan’s expressions in “Dreamland…”, the thematic concert presents a fitting framework for his characteristically light-hearted and joyful music.
People have asked where does the future of Canadian Classical Music lie? It seems that Jonathan Kravtchenko has the answer – the future of Canadian Classical Music is now.

Hi Jonathan!
I’m interested in what music education you have? And who are or were your piano and composition teachers?
Thank you.
Hi there!
Thanks for reaching out. I studied (and continue to study) with the
Royal Conservatory. In terms of composition, I have had only two
teachers (both of whom had a profound impact). Robert Jennings and
Gerry Shatford. I am so grateful to both for providing me with the skills
that make my music possible.
Hope that answers your question!
